How to convert CNY to NZD
The maths behind a CNY to NZD conversion is one multiplication, no rounding tricks. On 18 August 2026 that rate is 0.250913, so:
NZD = CNY × 0.250913
Backwards works identically — divide by 0.250913, or multiply by 3.9855. One New Zealand Dollar comes to 3.9855 Chinese Yuan.
The converter at the top of this page does both directions and updates as you type. Every result is recalculated on the server as well, so the number you see is the number that gets stored.
About the Chinese Yuan and the New Zealand Dollar
The Chinese Yuan (CNY, symbol ¥) is the currency of China. The New Zealand Dollar (NZD, symbol NZ$) is the currency of New Zealand.
The rate is set by continuous trading, which is why it rarely reads the same two days running. The feed publishes mid-market figures, which is what financial reporting cites. Actual exchange costs a margin on top.

A price tag. Something marked ¥50 comes to 12.5456 NZD. Round to 13 NZD for a quick mental check while you are standing in the shop.
A monthly salary. ¥3,000 a month is 752.74 NZD — useful when you are comparing a job offer across the two markets. Bear in mind the rate moves, so a figure agreed today will not be the figure paid out in six months.
Going the other way. If you are holding NZ$1,000 and want to know what it buys in Chinese Yuan, that is 3985.45 CNY. The converter handles both directions — use the swap button between the two fields.

No — treat it as the reference point, not the offer. Exchange desks quote a spread around the mid-market rate and keep the difference. Comparing their quote with the figure above tells you what the convenience is costing you.
