How to convert AUD to CAD
Turning Australian Dollars into Canadian Dollars needs nothing more than today's rate and a multiplication. On 18 August 2026 that rate is 0.986429, so:
CAD = AUD × 0.986429
The inverse holds too: 1.0138 Australian Dollars per Canadian Dollar. Divide where you multiplied before.
The converter at the top of this page does both directions and updates as you type. Every result is recalculated on the server as well, so the number you see is the number that gets stored.
About the Australian Dollar and the Canadian Dollar
The Australian Dollar (AUD, symbol A$) is the currency of Australia. The Canadian Dollar (CAD, symbol C$) is the currency of Canada.
Neither currency is pegged to the other, so the figure drifts from one session to the next. The figures here are mid-market reference rates from a public daily feed: the rate quoted in the news, not the rate a retail exchange hands you over the counter.
Worked AUD to CAD examples
A price tag. Something marked A$50 comes to 49.3214 CAD. Round to 49 CAD for a quick mental check while you are standing in the shop.
A monthly salary. A$3,000 a month is 2959.29 CAD — useful when you are comparing a job offer across the two markets. Bear in mind the rate moves, so a figure agreed today will not be the figure paid out in six months.
Going the other way. If you are holding C$1,000 and want to know what it buys in Australian Dollars, that is 1013.76 AUD. The converter handles both directions — use the swap button between the two fields.
Watch the margin. At a bureau charging 3%, your A$500 would fetch roughly 478.42 CAD instead of 493.21 CAD. That gap is what the mid-market rate on this page lets you spot.
The AUD/CAD rate stands at 0.986429 on 18 August 2026. It is refreshed every morning, so this page never quotes a figure older than a day.
That works out at 98.642868 CAD for 100 AUD. Type a different figure into the converter to see it change as you go.
Almost certainly not. What you see here is the mid-market rate, the midpoint of the market. Every retail provider takes a cut on top of it. The value of knowing the mid-market figure is being able to measure that cut.
